A NEWSLETTER FOR THE WINDERMERE SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Principal Message

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week 2026! We are so fortunate to have an amazing team of dedicated teachers that work tirelessly for our students here at Windermere. The job of a teacher has evolved over the years to encompass so many different roles while asking more and more of teachers each school year. Please join me in taking a moment to thank our teachers for all they do to make Windermere an amazing place to learn!

Prom was a night to remember! Thank you to Mr. Brengel, our SGA leadership, and all our volunteers who helped make prom 2026 an amazing event for our students. Also, big shout out to all the students and teachers who participated in Prom Spirit Week, and to Ms. Wilson for organizing our Decision Day Festivities on Friday!

Testing continues this week with AICE testing and the start of AP testing. As a result of testing, the bells will be off so students need to ensure they are getting to and from class on time! It is also extremely important that students bring their school issued device to school on the day of state and local testing. All 9th and 10th grade students will take FAST 3 on Tuesday. We will operate on a modified schedule and students will either test or be in a non-testing room for the duration of the assessment.

On Thursday, we will administer the algebra/geometry EOCs. This will also be a modified schedule, and students will need their school issued device. As a reminder, we do not have spare devices to provide so please plan accordingly. Please see below for a all modified schedules taking place this month. Finally, don’t forget, there is no early dismissal on Wednesday, May 6, due to testing around the district. Students will release at 2:20 p.m.

Parking clearance for the 2026-27 is now open. All requirements and the application are listed on our website: https://windermerehs.ocps.net/253587_2. Please be sure to review the requirements and plan accordingly as parking is limited here at Windermere.

Senior walkout is scheduled for Thursday, May 14 at 12:15 PM (estimated). Parents who wish to decorate student cars can access the main parking lot at 11:00 a.m. Parking is first come, first served, and once we are full, we are full. Please do not block roads or turn lanes. After the walkout begins, students will walk through campus and exit out onto the back practice field. This is where parents are permitted to wait and celebrate with students. Parents can enter the practice field, which is located behind the cafeteria. We will open the gate beginning at 11:50 AM. Parents are asked to stay on the field as we still have school in session. Be advised, bathrooms will not be available on the field and we anticipate warm temperatures so plan accordingly, and be mindful if you are bringing grandparents or young children.

As always, please be sure to regularly check our website and Facebook page for important updates.

Sincerely,

Mr. Leftakis
Principal

  • All perimeter gates must be closed and locked while students are present on campus, regardless of whether it is during normal school hours.
  • Communicating with students the importance of not allowing non-students and non-OCPS employees into school buildings.
  • All visitors must have an ID present at all times.
  • Visitors must hold identification up to the camera of the video intercom system at the entry of the school if the visitor is not a known person.

We ask that parents refrain from dropping students off in the road or in turn lanes. Additionally, please remind students to properly secure all bikes and scooters when not in use. We want to ensure students arrive and depart safely!
