School and Event Attendance

Compulsory student attendance will be enforced during the 2024-2025 school year. Students will be considered to have a pattern of nonattendance if they miss 5 or more days, unexcused, within a 30-day period OR have ten or more unexcused absences in a 90-day period. Students with 15 or more unexcused absences within a 90-day period will be considered habitually truant and will be referred to the School Social Worker for Truancy Court proceedings and to the school-based attendance team. Consequences may include suspension of driving privileges by the DMV. It is important to keep in mind that the number of unexcused absences is also a part of a student's official, high school transcript, which colleges review for admission.
Students with a pattern of nonattendance will be considered “not in good standing” at Windermere High School and could be in danger of losing privileges such as, but not limited to: parking passes, Senior Privilege, participation in homecoming, prom, dances and celebrations, sporting events, concerts, performances, and pep-rallies. For students not in good standing, the parent/guardian and student will meet with the dean or assistant principal to create a plan to correct the pattern of non-attendance in order to be removed from the list and to have privileges restored.
As a member of the Freshman Class, there are many opportunities to participate in events for the year.  While preparing for these events, keep in mind the following requirements:
  • Any student who receives a Level 3 or 4 referral in the current school year will be subject to administrative approval to request the privilege of participating in any events (including, but not limited to homecoming, prom, etc).
  • All students must have a C or higher in all current classes at the time of ticket request.
  • All students must have a 2.0 GPA to have earned the privilege of participating in events (including, but not limited to homecoming, prom, etc.).
  • Students who have missing credits in a class required for graduation will not be permitted to attend events. (In progress courses are allowed.)
  • Any student that arrives to a Windermere event unprepared to conduct themselves as an appropriate representative of Windermere High School will not be permitted to attend
  • As such, any student who is suspended during the week of the event (including but not limited to: homecoming, Prom) will not be permitted to participate in the event.
