Summer Math Resources

The Curriculum and Digital Learning department (CDL) has partnered with Khan Academy to create resources for students to use in preparation for select secondary mathematics courses they will take in the 2019-2020 school year. CDL identified specific standards of focus and Khan Academy curated their resources that align with that content. The table outlines the target courses and focus content for each of the summer resources linked

It is not required that these resources are used. These summer resources have been created to support student success in the next course by reinforcing content they might have not encountered for over a year. Students must log in to Khan Academy through OCPS LaunchPad first before using the links to access the exercises. Each resource includes information for how parents/guardians can set up a Khan Academy account and link to their child’s account as a coach in order to monitor their progress.

Focus Content 
Liberal Arts Math 1 Algebra 1/ Honors Preparing for Algebra 1 The target standards are fourteen 8th grade standards that students should have learned in their 18-19 course. Reinforcing this content will help prepare them for Algebra 1 success. The content focuses on properties of exponents, linear equations & systems, functions, and two-variable statistics.
Algebra 1/ Honors Geometry/ Honors Preparing for Geometry The target standards are nine 8th grade standards that students should have learned in 7th Advanced or Pre-Algebra during the 17- 18 school year. Reinforcing this content will help prepare them for Geometry success. The content focuses on transformations, angle relationships, and the Pythagorean Theorem.
Geometry/ Honors Algebra 2/ Honors Preparing for Algebra 2 The target standards are thirteen Algebra 1 standards that students should have learned in Algebra 1/Honors during the 17- 18 school year. Reinforcing this content will help prepare them for Algebra 2 success. The content focuses on interpreting functions and modeling with equations, inequalities and systems.
